United States ups the pressure against India over Occupied Kashmir lockdown

ISLAMABAD – United States ups the pressure against India over OccupiedKashmir lockdown.

A bill has been introduced in the House of Representatives urging India toend the restrictions on communications and mass detentions in OccupiedKashmir and preserve religious freedom for all residents.

The bill moved by Pramila Jayapal said that people across the United Statesmaintain ties with family and friends in Occupied Kashmir and have reporteddifficulty contacting their loved ones since the communications blockadewas imposed on August 5.

The bill asked India to allow international human rights observers andjournalists to access the territory.

It further asked India to swiftly release arbitrarily detained people inoccupied Kashmir and refrain from conditioning the release of detainedpeople on their willingness to sign bonds prohibiting any politicalactivities and speeches.
