Sehat Cards to 1.4 crore families: Important step taken

ISLAMABAD – Financial bids of insurance companies were opened in thepresence of media in Islamabad today for provision of Sehat Cards to 14million families across Pakistan.

Federal Minister for National Health Services and Regulation Aamir MehmoodKiyani was also present at the bid opening ceremony.

Through these cards families living below poverty line of 2 dollars per daywill be provided financial protection against extraordinary healthcareexpenditures.

The Sehat Card provides its enrolled beneficiaries access to free qualityindoor health care services, worth 720,000 rupees, from public and privatehospitals of their choice across the country.

The services also include hearth surgeries, stents, chemotherapy,radiotherapy, dialysis, maternity and other medical and surgical services.

Minister for National Health Services Aamir Mehmood Kiani has said thescope of health card scheme has been expanded on the directions of thePrime Minister in order to provide better healthcare services to the poorsegments of the society.

He was addressing a ceremony in connection with the opening of thefinancial bids of health card scheme in Islamabad today (Saturday).

The Minister said under this scheme, indoor services will also be ensuredboth at the public and private sector hospitals.

He said the card holders will be able to get medical treatment up to thetune of seven hundred and twenty thousand rupees.

Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister vowed to make all out effortsto provide the best possible healthcare facilities to the poor asenvisioned by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
