ISLAMABAD – Foreign Secretary Tehmina Janjua held a meeting with her SouthKorean counterpart Ms Kang Kyung-Wha in Seoul and reviewed the entire gamutof bilateral relations and identified opportunities and possibilities forfurther deepening the relations in all fields, especially in the spheres oftrade, investment, education, culture and parliamentary exchanges.
The meeting took place before the 10th Round of Pakistan-Republic of Korea(RoK) Bilateral Policy Consultations
During the discussions the two sides agreed in principle for the need ofhigh level visits from RoK to Pakistan to establish closer cooperation invarious fields of economic reform and regional peace and security.
Pakistan side welcomed the designation of Pakistan as a “priority partner”for Korean Economic Development Cooperation.
Enhancing cooperation in culture, education as well as in new fields suchas forestry and climate change initiatives were also discussed.
Discussions were also held regarding regional security situations in southAsia and the Korean Peninsula. Pakistan highlighted the importance ofresolution of Kashmir Dispute for peace in South Asia and the Korean sidebriefed on the positive developments for establishment of ‘peace regime’ onthe Korean peninsula.
The 10th Round of Bilateral Policy Consultations provided a useful platformto review progress in various fields and to set trajectory for furthercooperation between the two sides.
