The dangerous outfield at Indian cricket Ground has increased the risk ofinjuries to players. Afghan coach Jonathan Trot spoke out about concernsregarding the outfield at the ground.
The third match of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 was played betweenBangladesh and Afghanistan at Dharamshala Ground. During the match,observations were made about the outfield, raising concerns about playerinjuries when diving on the ground.
After Afghanistan’s defeat, the Himachal Pradesh Cricket AssociationStadium’s outfield is under discussion. Afghanistan’s head coach JonathanTrot, while talking to Majib-ul-Rahman, expressed relief that despite thedive, he avoided serious injury.
He clarified that they are not blaming Afghanistan’s performance and defeaton the outfield’s condition but suggested that authorities should rectifythe issues.
Jonathan Trot emphasized that if players are unsure about diving safely,they should focus on improving their fielding, which boosts players’ moraleworldwide. However, injuries during fielding can be distressing.
Trot mentioned that in his opinion, Majib was fortunate not to get injuredwhile attempting to save boundaries during the dive.
He advised authorities to work on improving the outfield’s condition usinginternational standards.
