To befool international community, India claims lifting tourist ban in Occupied Kashmir

NEW DELHI – After nearly three months since the Indian government launcheda security crackdown in Indian-occupied Kashmir (IoK), the Indiangovernment has decided to lift the travel advisory on the region.

“The governor directed that the Home Department’s advisory asking touriststo leave the Valley be lifted immediately. This will be done with effectfrom October 10,” *India Today *quoted an official spokesman. However, theUnited Kingdom and other countries still have advisories in placediscouraging their citizens from visiting the IoK.

In August, thousands of Indian tourists, pilgrims and workers fled from theregion after authorities issued a security alert. Before repealing thespecial status granted to IoK, the government restricted public movementsto prevent protests.

The Indian government also imposed a curfew and suspended telephone andinternet service in the region. It has been over 60 days since IoK has beenin lock down. Several patients have died due to suspension of internet andlandline services.
