ISLAMABAD – President Dr. Arif Alvi has promulgated an ordinance toestablish an Authority on China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
The ordinance was promulgated by the president under clause (1) of Article89 of the Constitution.
Extending to the whole of Pakistan, the ordinance is aimed at acceleratingthe pace of CPEC related projects and evaluating the new drivers of growth.
It will also unlock the potential of interlinked production network andglobal value chains through regional and global connectivity.

The decision has come at time when Prime Minister Imran Khan is visitingChina on an important two-day visit where he will hold meetings with theChinese President and Prime Minister to discuss issues of regional andbilateral significance.
Reportedly, PM will apprise Chinese leadership on the situation of Kashmirand steps taken to implement CPEC related projects.
