PTI not believe in political revenge : Governor

ISLAMABAD: Punjab Governor Chaudhry Muhammad Sarwar Sunday said Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) government did not believe in taking political revenge from opponents.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the PTI government had not registered a single case against its opponents but they were facing those cases which were lodged in previous tenures.

He said accountability was essential for development and stability of the country. The present government would ensure rule of law.

Chaudhry Sarwar said devolution of power was solution of all the issues.

He said the PTI government would introduce reforms in local bodies system, adding Mayor and Nazim would be elected through electoral process.

To a query, he said the provincial government was taking measures to bring improvement in education and resolve water issues. “We would remove portfolio of Pro-Vice Chancellors in the universities.”

The Punjab government would follow the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa education model to provide quality education to the students, he stated.

Commenting on statement of Rana Mashood, he said Rana had given statement to win the bye-polls, adding PTI would complete its constitutional tenure.

He said workers were assets and backbone of the party and the government was formed today due to their sacrifices and they deserve respect.

Chaudhry Sarwar said difficult decisions had been taken in supplementary budget due to economic condition of the country. Austerity measures had been adopted by the government to control expenditures, he maintained.

To another question, he said he would donate his salary in dam fund as people were taking part in the fund to save the water. Dams would be constructed in the province for provision of clean drinking water, he added.
