Clean and Green Pakistan: Pakistani minister makes a pledge with the nation

ISLAMABAD – Minister of State for Climate Change Zartaj Gul on Monday saidthat pollution is one of the main issues that Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf(PTI) government aims to tackle through initiatives like Clean and GreenPakistan.

Talking to APP, she said that visionary leader like Prime Minister ImranKhan can plan projects like Clean and Green Pakistan. She said duringfive-year project, the Ministry would initiate campaign across the countryto create awareness among the people of Pakistan regarding importance ofclean and neat environment.

She said that youth, celebrity and religious leaders would also involved inthe campaign. She said that government has launched Ten Billion TreesTsunami project on patron of Billion Trees Project Khyber Pakhtunkhwa whichwould play crucial role in tackling climate change issues in the country.

She said that millions of people in the country do not have access to atoilet, forcing them to defecate in the open, which is a major contributorto stunting in the country.

The minister said that open defecation can spread disease and lead tointestinal infections, which can contribute to stunting in young children.She said that during five years campaign, the people across the countrywould be involved to take part in this campaign with aim to make Pakistanclean and green. – APP
