A significant deposit of petroleum and natural gas has been discovered inPakistan’s territorial waters, which could potentially transform thecountry’s future, according to a report by DawnNewsTV on Friday. A seniorsecurity official, familiar with the details of the discovery, disclosedthat the find is of such magnitude that its development could alter thenation’s trajectory.
The official revealed that a three-year survey, conducted in collaborationwith a friendly nation, was carried out to confirm the presence of thesevaluable oil and gas reserves. This extensive geographic survey enabledPakistan to pinpoint the exact location of the deposits. Relevantauthorities have since informed the government about the discovery of theseresources within Pakistani waters.
Referring to the initiative as part of the ‘blue water economy’, theofficial explained that proposals for bidding and exploration are currentlyunder review. This indicates that exploration activities could commence inthe near future. However, the official cautioned that the process ofdrilling wells and extracting the oil may take several years to complete.
