Russia has expressed a strong desire to enhance its collaborative effortswith Pakistan within the energy sector. This announcement came to lightduring a meeting between Russia’s Energy Minister, Nikolay Shulginov, andPakistan’s outgoing ambassador, Shafqat Ali Khan, marking the conclusion ofKhan’s diplomatic tenure in Russia.
In recognition of their successful partnership in the field of energy andthe substantial progress achieved through the Russian-PakistaniIntergovernmental Commission, co-chaired by Nikolai Shulginov, the Russianminister extended his gratitude to Shafqat Ali Khan.
Shulginov conveyed his appreciation, saying, “Over the years of our jointwork, much has been accomplished, in large part thanks to your profoundunderstanding of the intricacies of Russian-Pakistani cooperation. Weeagerly anticipate continued and fruitful discussions on energy mattersbetween Russia and Pakistan.”
During their discussion, both parties delved into the critical facets oftheir ongoing bilateral energy collaboration. Specifically, the Russianminister emphasized the urgency of establishing a working group tasked withthe formulation and subsequent execution of an extensive plan for advancingPakistan’s gas industry. Furthermore, Nikolay Shulginov underscoredRussia’s keen interest in engaging in multilateral negotiations involvingPakistani participation to address matters concerning the internationaltransport corridor.
