Former captain of the Pakistan cricket team, Shahid Afridi, took issue withthe statement made by Jay Shah, the President of the Asian Cricket Council(ACC), regarding Pakistan’s security. Jay Shah had stated the previous daythat due to security and economic concerns, all full members, media rightsholders, and stadium rights holders were hesitant to participate in theentire tournament in Pakistan instead of Sri Lanka for the 2023 Asia Cup.
Jay Shah’s statement mentioned that, in his capacity as ACC President, hehad to find a suitable solution, and he acknowledged the acceptance of thehybrid model proposed by the PCB.
In response to Jay Shah’s statement, Shahid Afridi issued a statement onTwitter, mentioning Jay Shah.
Shahid Afridi has mentioned in his post which foreign teams have visitedPakistan in these years. At the end of his tweet, Shahid Afridi also wrote,”Mr. Shah has no doubt that Pakistan is also prepared for hosting theChampions Trophy 2025 in India.”
Javed Shah’s objections prevented any changes to the Asia Cup venue.
It is clear that the Asian Cricket Council (ACC) has made a mockery of theAsia Cup schedule, just as Javed Shah had ridiculed the World Cup schedulebefore. They have now made decisions regarding the Asia Cup that are asubject of ridicule
