KARACHI – Mobile Phone service to stay suspended over Ashura in Karachi andparts of Sindh.

The Sindh government has recommended the closure of mobile phone serviceon the 9th and 10th Muharram in the province in view of the law and ordersituation.

Home Secretary Sindh Kabir Qazi has recommended the PakistanTelecommunication Authority (PTA) to discontinue mobile phone service inthe procession and assembly areas.

Internet and mobile service will not be shut down throughout the province. Wehave also directed all the Commissioners and Deputy Commissioners toidentify the areas.
