ISLAMABAD: Indian troops launched cordon and search operations in Pulwama, Rafiabad and Kishtwar areas.
According to Kashmir Media Service, the troops sealed all the entry and exit points to Sirnoo area of Pulwama district.
Youth in large numbers came out to the streets shouting pro-freedom slogans as soon as the troops launched the operation. The troops fired teargas shells to disperse the protesting youth.
A cordon and search operation was launched by the troops at Behrampora in Rafiabad area of Baramulla district. The residents told the media that Indian soldiers conducted door-to-door searches during the operation.
On the other hand, during past two days, the Indian forces continue siege around several areas in Kishtwar district.
A resident of Kishtwar told media men that cordon search operations were launched in different areas in the district including Semna, Shaheedi Gali, Malik Mohalla and adjacent localities. “The forces’ personnel besides subjecting people to frisking, conducted house to house searches,” he said. “Last time these localities witnessed such operations in 2005,” he recalled.
