Manchester / Islamabad – August 8, 2025

Pakistan’s promising young batter, Haider Ali, aged 24, finds himself embroiled in a serious legal and professional crisis following his arrest in England.

Greater Manchester Police confirmed receiving a rape complaint on Monday, August 4, 2025. A 24-year-old man was arrested based on the report, which relates to an incident allegedly occurring on Wednesday, July 23, 2025, at a premises in Manchester. The man has since been released on bail pending further inquiries.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) responded swiftly, imposing a provisional suspension on Haider Ali—effective immediately—while the investigation unfolds. The PCB emphasized its respect for the UK’s legal process and stated it would take appropriate disciplinary action under its Code of Conduct once all facts are established.

Haider Ali, a right-handed batter who has represented Pakistan in 35 T20 Internationals and 2 One-Day Internationals since his debut in 2020, was touring the UK with the Pakistan Shaheens (the ‘A’ team) when the incident allegedly occurred. The tour had spanned from July 22 to early August.
