ISLAMABAD – A surprise International cricket Coach name reported for theslot of Pakistan head Coach.
Former New Zealand cricket coach Mike Hesson is in contention to become thenext coach of Pakistan cricket team, after the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB)announced to not renew contracts of head coach Mickey Arthur.
“Hesson is being lined up by Pakistan as Mickey Arthur’s potentialreplacement as job vacancies open up around the cricket world,” quoted*Stuff.co.nzlink*. Hesson announced on Thursday in a tweet post that hewould not be working with the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise KingsXI.
“I thoroughly enjoyed my time with the Kings XI franchise and wish to thankthem for the season I had in charge. Whilst disappointed not to be able tobuild on the work we did this year, I’m sure success isn’t too far away forthem. I wish them all the best for the future,” Hesson wrote.
The development comes after the PCB announced on Wednesday that they wouldbe axing head coach Mickey Arthur, alongside batting coach Grant Flower andbowling coach Azhar Mahmood, following Pakistan cricket team failure toreach the semifinals of the ICC World Cup 2019.
“PCB will be immediately undertaking a robust recruitment process after itdecided not to renew the contracts of head coach Arthur, bowling coachAzhar Mahmood, batting coach Grant Flower and trainer Grant Luden,” theboard said in a statement.
Hesson has coached the New Zealand for six years from 2012 to 2018, atenure that features Black Caps memorable run at the 2015 World Cup.
