NEW DELHI – India’s Goa International Airport had temporarily been closedafter a detachable fuel tank attached to a MiG-29K fighter jet crash-landedon the runway, The Hindulink reported.
The airport had been shut down for two hours after the aircraft landed,spilling fuel and causing minor damage to the landing and take-off strip inthe process.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) spokesperson said on Saturday, “Due tothe jettisoned fuel tank on the runway during MiG sortie, the operationsare closed for two hours at Goa airport. Please bear with us.”
AAI Goa took to social media and tweeted that from the official handle thatairport operations are likely to commence around 4 pm on Saturday.
“These are external fuel tanks outfitted to aircraft in order to enablethem to cover more distance. One such tank attached to a MiG-29K gotjettisoned off the jet during a sortie and landed on the runway,” thespokesperson told the media.
