Economy- Pakistan to get big share of 6.5 billion annually to capture Chinese market

ISLAMABAD – Advisor to Prime Minister on Commerce Abdul Razak Dawood hassaid under the recently signed Free Trade Agreement with China, the localexporters now have a big opportunity to capture the Chinese market.

Talking to newsman at Ministry of Commerce in Islamabad said theChina-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement would turn around Pakistan’s economy,particularly export-based industry.

He said under the agreement Pakistan will get 6.5 billion dollars annualshare of total Chinese imports of 64 billion dollars.

Abdul Razak Dawood said the government is taking steps to make thePakistani products competitive in the international market.

He said China wants to relocate its industry in other countries and thegovernment desires to get maximum Chinese industrial units shifted toPakistan.

The Advisor to Prime Minister said if any industry in the country is hurt,Pakistan can get measures to protect the particular industrial unit for 90days.

He said iron, steel, agriculture, plastic, ceramics and surgical goodsindustries would need protection and safeguards.
