ISLAMABAD – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf-led federal government has decided toentrust former finance minister Asad Umar with new responsibility asChairman of National Assembly’s Standing Committee on Finance.
Umar, who stepped down as finance minister last month after being offeredanother portfolio, has been reportedly informed about the decision made byPrime Minister Imran Khan; Umar would replace PTI’s Faiz Ullah.
According to local media reports, PTI’s Chief Whip Aamir Dogar has beenasked to execute the appointment; an official notification in this regardis awaited.
The decision came a day after the premier had a one-to-one interaction withUmar in which the latter was reportedly asked to rejoin the federal cabinet.
Soon after the meeting, Umar had negated news reports that he was going tojoin the cabinet that underwent a major reshuffle last month.
