PTA launches Work from Home facility to facilitate female employees

ISLAMABAD: The new policy – Work from Home – introduced by Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to facilitate female employees has been termed as “good initiative.”

A batch of three females are currently availing this facility and representing three different sections of PTA including Public Relations, Radio-based Services (RBS) and Commercial Affairs.

The Authority has launched the facility few months back and in first phase allowed one-day Work from Home to only a batch of female officers with small children.

Assistant Director PR, Zaibun Nisa, who is availing this facility on Monday commended the initiative introduced by Chairman PTA, Syed Dr. Ismail Shah to facilitate female employees to provide them a convenient and comfortable working environment.

She said, “Under first phase of the project we are allowed to work at home for only one day (except Monday and Friday), adding that this is a wonderful facility under which we can manage our working targets and also look after our children.”

All the requisite facilities including online portal, email and other data resources have been configured for remote access and usage to make the setup workable. The video conferencing arrangements have also been arranged to ensure official communication between officers and supervisors, she said.

It may be mentioned here that PTA’s Work from Home Policy is aimed at facilitating employees to make working environment as positive as possible. After successful completion of the experimental first phase, more officers will be allowed to avail one day work from home during a week.

PTA said it believes in empowering its employees and endeavors to provide equal opportunity to all employees to work in an environment where they can provide quality input not only at a comfortable pace but also caters to human needs of the employees.

Meanwhile, Ministry of Information Technology & Telecom has also introduced ‘Work from Home’ policy” to create a more conducive working environment for its female officers.

Through this policy initiative, the female officers were being given an option to choose one day in a week (as per their convenience), to perform their official duties while staying at their respective homes.

Zaibun Nisa said the other ministries and departments also need to introduce this initiative aimed catering human needs of their employees particularly females. (APP)
