The Italian leading energy and gas company, Snam S.p.A, has shown keeninterest to invest in country’s power sector, Ambassador of Italy toPakistan Andreas Ferrarese said.

Talking to APP here on Tuesday, the Ambassador said that the company plansto visit the country in near future and join those Italian companies whichalready have an investment or around $ 1.5 billion in the country’s energysector.

The Ambassador informed that Snam S.p.A is an Italian energy infrastructurecompany, who want to bring investment in energy sector including compressednatural gas (CNG) and Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to enhance the localcapacity in this sector.

He said that Snam have a market capitalization of €15.4 billion originallya subsidiary of Italian energy company Eni.

He informed that Snam is one of Europe’s main regulated gas companies,leading Italy in gas transport and storage, while ranking thirdinregasification.

The ambassador said that Italy was committed to extend the cooperation of adiverse potential sector to enhance the bilateral economic and cooperationbetween Pakistan and Italy.

Andreas Ferrarese said that green economy, transfer of technology forindustrial sector including textiles and agro industry, constructionsector, education and health are major areas of focus to extend thebilateral cooperation.

The ambassador said through green economy, Italy wanted to cooperate withPakistan for environment protection, circular economy, resource saving andmanagement, ecosystem protection and recovery, water conservation andnatural disaster prevention.—APP
