*ISLAMABAD: *The federal government has decided to bar public officeholders since January 2000 from availing tax amnesty scheme in an attemptto counter the concerns that former rulers can take advantage of theassets-whitening package, *reported*link>alocal English newspaper.
The ruling party has decided to repeat the definition of ‘public officerholders’ described in the National Accountability Ordinance, 1999 in theForeign Assets Declaration Ordinance, which is still under drafting processon Sunday.
The government, however, is still not ready to include the definitionof politically exposed persons (PEPs) in the ordinance, the sources stated.
