KARACHI: An additional and session judge Karachi South ordered TV host DrShahid Masood and Airwave Media Group to pay 10 million rupees in damagesto provincial minister Saeed Ghani for defaming him and damaging hisreputation.
The provincial minister for labour Saeed Ghani had filed a lawsuit forrecovery of damages against Anchor Dr Shahid Masood, his programmeproducer, chairman and chief operating officer of Airwave Media Group forairing various programmes in November 2017 during which baselessallegations were leveled against the plaintiff with an aim to damage hisreputation and internationally.
Additional district and sessions judge ix Karachi, F South Fateh MubeenNizam, after final hearing on January 22 reserved his judgment which heannounced on Tuesday decreasing the suit in pecuniary terms as prayed.

Dr Masood had previously been sent to jail on judicial remand in PTVcorruption case. Moreover, a Joint Investigation Team (JIT) on the Zainabrape and murder case also rejected his claims aired on the tv screen. Thesensationalist tv host in his show, had alleged that Zainab’s suspectedrapist and murderer was a member of a pornography gang which also includesa Punjab minister.
