*LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Friday decided tointerrogate former railways minister Khawaja Saad Rafique over purchase of55 locomotives at exorbitant rates.*
According to details, the NAB found out that Rafique had approvedpurchasing of locomotives at excessive rates and decided to grill theformer minister in jail.
Sources said that only 10 of the 55 locomotives were in use, while 45 wereredundant and their purchasing caused loss to the national exchequer.
The NAB investigators will move a plea in the accountability court in orderto seek permission to question the ex-minister in the scam.
Saad Rafique is currently incarcerated along with his brother SalmanRafique in Paragon Housing scheme case.
Rafique and his brother were arrested on Dec 11 after the Lahore High Courtrejected their bail plea. They have so far completed 53-day remand in thecase. Khawaja brothers are currently being investigated by theaccountability watchdog for alleged corruption in Paragon Housing Societycase and accumulating wealth beyond known sources of income.
