Pakistan Firmly Rejects Jaishankar s Accusations on Terrorism

ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office has categorically rejected the recentassertions made by Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar inLuxembourg, describing them as irresponsible and misleading attempts todeflect attention from India’s own record in promoting regional instabilityand terrorism.

During his weekly press briefing, Foreign Office Spokesperson Tahir Andrabiemphasised that India’s statements once again seek to obscure its troublinghistory as a neighbour that has contributed to unrest through support forterrorist activities and interference in regional affairs.

Andrabi highlighted that Jaishankar’s remarks constitute a blatantdiversion from emerging evidence suggesting India’s efforts to involvethird parties in securing a ceasefire during the brief militaryconfrontation in May 2025, following the Pahalgam incident.

The spokesperson asserted that no rhetoric can conceal India’s fabricatednarratives on counter-terrorism, particularly regarding the Pahalgamattack, which triggered Operation Sindoor and subsequent escalationsbetween the two nuclear-armed nations.

He accused India of engaging in extrajudicial killings abroad, meddling inneighbours’ internal politics, exporting terrorism to Pakistan, andharbouring fugitives wanted for serious crimes.

Andrabi noted that India has often prioritised coercion over cooperationwith smaller regional states, undermining prospects for peacefulcoexistence in South Asia.

Turning to domestic concerns in India, the spokesperson expressed profoundworry over the recent demolition of structures associated with the historicFaiz-e-Elahi mosque in Delhi, a site of significant Muslim heritage.

He described the action as part of a broader, systematic campaign driven byextremist ideologies to marginalise and erase Muslim cultural and religiouslandmarks across India.

The spokesperson pointed out that numerous other historic mosques facesimilar threats, reflecting ongoing social, economic, and politicalmarginalisation of Indian Muslims.

Andrabi urged the international community, including the United Nations, toaddress the rising Islamophobia in India and protect the rights ofreligious minorities.

He called on Indian authorities to uphold their constitutional duties andinternational obligations to ensure the safety of all communities, including Muslims.

On bilateral relations with Afghanistan, Andrabi reaffirmed Pakistan’sdesire for non-hostile ties while insisting that Afghan soil must not beused for launching attacks against Pakistan.

The spokesperson reiterated demands for concrete actions against groupsresponsible for cross-border terrorism, emphasising the need for regionalstability.

These developments underscore persistent tensions in South Asia, wheremutual accusations continue to hinder dialogue and cooperation on sharedchallenges.
