KARACHI – Pakistan Maritime Security Agency (PMSA) on Tuesday announced that 34 Indian fishermen have been arrested for entering into Pakistani waters and fishing illegally.
The agency said during an early morning open sea operation the fishermen in six different boats were found violating international water boundaries by fishing within Pakistani territories.
They, along with their boats, were taken into custody and following necessary interrogation were handed to Dock Police to fulfill required legal action.
Earlier this year, Pakistan had announced to release 360 Indian prisoners including 355 fishermen and five civilians during the month of April link a good will gesture.
The prisoners were released in four batches – 100 each on April 8, 15 and 29 – while 60 prisoners including 55 fishermen and five civilians were freed on April 29 before being taken to Lahore through train where they were handed over to the Indian authorities at Wagah Border.
