No lawsuit filed against NAB in Int'l Court of Arbitration, NA told

The National Assembly was informed today that there is no lawsuit filed against National Accountability Bureau in International Court of Arbitration.
Parliamentary Secretary for Law and Justice Malika Ali Bukhari told the House during Question Hour that an arbitration titled as Broadsheet LLC Vs Government of Pakistan (through NAB) is pending in Chartered Institute of Arbitration, London and High Court Justice in England.
The subject arbitration is sub-judiced before the Tribunal and the High Court of Justice in England and prohibited from public discussions.
Minister for Power Omar Ayub Khan told the House that an abundant supply of transformers is available at all sub-offices of power distribution companies and their use will also be monitored.
He said the last government gave power connections on political basis, resulting in an increase of 450 billion rupees in circular debt. He said we inherited 806 billion rupees circular debt due to these issues.
The Power Minister said master trainers have been given training on safety aspects.
Linemen and other technical staff have been provided helmets, gloves and other safety equipment. He said bucket vehicles are available at all offices.
Omar Ayub said heirs of the deceased linemen have been distributed compensation cheques.
Replying to a call attention notice ,Minister of State for Revenue Hammad Azhar said concessional lending will be made to microfinance banks for disbursement as loans in order to bring down the cost of mark up.
He said the scheme has been launched by State Bank of Pakistan in cooperation with World Bank and it will cost nine billion rupees. The calling attention notice was moved by Dr. Muhammad Afzal Khan Dhandla and others.
The House has now been adjourned to meet again at 11 am on Wednesday.
