NEW DELHI: At least 6 terrorists on Saturday morning have launched a terror attack on the Indian Air Force base in PathanKot, Punjab according to India Media.
As per details, 2 Indian Air Force personnel have lost their lives in the attack, 6 are injured while 4 terrorists have been killed in retaliation.
According to Indian media, 6 the terrorists entered the Base in military get up and media has quoted that the vehicle which has been used in the attack was hijacked from Suprintendent Police (SP) in Gurdaspur area, yesterday.
All the area of PathanKot and nearby areas has been cordon off after the incident.
The gunfire started at around 3:30 am, authorities said, adding that an official car was used to launch the attack. The incident is being seen as connected to the hijacking of a police car a day ago.
Gunfire is being heard from inside the air base and reports suggest the terrorists have been contained in a non-operational area of the facility.
The technical area where MiG 29 fighter aircraft and helicopters are kept is safe, officials said.
