Minimum wage for Pakistani workers in UAE fixed

*DUBAI - The minimum wage for Pakistani workers in the UAE has been fixed at 800 dirhams (Rs30,340) per month in addition to accommodation and health insurance.*

“We are thankful to the UAE government for accepting our request to fix minimum wages as it will help end exploitation of blue-collar workers by some employers,” Moazzam Ahmad Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, said at a community gathering at the consulate in Dubai, reported *Gulf News. *Khan hosted the event for National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser during his visit to the UAE on Wednesday.

He said that the wage rule has already been put in place. The government, he added, is also talking to other Gulf countries to implement a similar system. The ambassador said he has also requested the Pakistani government to help open more community schools in the UAE.
