WASHINGTON: NASA released aerial image of KPK flood affected areas caused by heavy monsoon rainfall.

The images showed the most affected areas of KPK where more than 100 people have died and hundreds injured in rain-related incidents.

108mm rainfall is recorded in affected areas of KPK, Gilgit Baltistan and FATA.

NASA released 3 million images of different parts of the world which were taken by The Advanced Space borne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER).

The information will be used to access rapid changes in weather and geographical context of earth including volcanic eruptions, earthquakes and wildfires.

NASA claimed that one single image captured by ASTER covers 37 miles land in width and length.

The satellite was launched with the coordination of Japan 16 years ago to gather the data of Earth’s changing surface.
