US diplomat launches multi million dollars Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program in Pakistan

LAHORE – US Consul General Colleen Crenwelge on Thursday launched thefive-year, multi-million dollar Ambassador’s Fund Grant Program in Lahore.

Approximately 200 grants will support valuable programmes carried out byPakistani organisations working to improve economic and social conditionsthroughout the country, says a press release issued here today.A group photo of the participants with U.S. Consul General ColleenCrenwelge during the launching program of U.S. Ambassador’s Fund GrantProgram in Punjab, Pakistan.

“This programme will help people address local problems in ways that haveimmediate and long-lasting effects,” Consul General Crenwelge said. “Thefirst grants in Punjab will help children in Kasur, provide vocationaltraining in Multan, and help with disaster preparedness in Muzaffargarhdistrict. These diverse projects reflect the collaboration between theUnited States and Pakistan to address important issues and will empowercommunities to create a more stable and prosperous country.”

The Fund Program supports economic development initiatives in priorityareas identified by the US Ambassador to Pakistan. During the currentcycle, these initiatives will focus on promoting culture and the arts,improving disaster preparedness, developing small-scale energy solutions,encouraging social entrepreneurship, and empowering vulnerable populations.
