Minimum wage for Pakistani workers in UAE fixed

*DUBAI – The minimum wage for Pakistani workers in the UAE has been fixedat 800 dirhams (Rs30,340) per month in addition to accommodation and healthinsurance.*

“We are thankful to the UAE government for accepting our request to fixminimum wages as it will help end exploitation of blue-collar workers bysome employers,” Moazzam Ahmad Khan, Pakistan’s ambassador to the UAE, saidat a community gathering at the consulate in Dubai, reported *Gulf News. *Khanhosted the event for National Assembly Speaker Asad Qaiser during his visitto the UAE on Wednesday.

He said that the wage rule has already been put in place. The government,he added, is also talking to other Gulf countries to implement a similarsystem. The ambassador said he has also requested the Pakistani governmentto help open more community schools in the UAE.
