KARACHI – The Election Tribunal at Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursdayissued show-cause notice to Dr Aamir Liaquat Hussain, Member of NationalAssembly from NA-245, for his non-appearance in an election plea filed byDr Farooq Sattar.
The petition is being heard by Justice Yousaf Ali Saeed of SHC, who isheading one of the two election tribunals constituted for election relatedpetitions regarding last general elections. The tribunal ordered to get theshow-cause notice implemented through Speaker National Assembly.
Dr Farooq Sattar, who lost the election to Dr Aamir Liaquat, contended inthe petition that the results of the said constituency were engineered.Sattar had submitted the documents about witnesses as well as hundreds ofdocuments about irregularities committed during polling as well as duringthe counting of votes.
The counsel representing him pleaded that notification of success of DrAamir should be declared null and void because his victory was engineered.
He also alleged that twenty thousands ballot papers were missing whereasForm-45 was not handed over to the polling agent at the polling stations.He also referred to expelling the polling agents from the polling stationsduring counting of votes.
