In 48 years, this has never happened before. Babar Azam has achieved aunique honor, becoming Pakistan’s first batsman to participate in the WorldCup as the number 1 batsman and captain of the national team.

Since the beginning of one-day format World Cup tournaments, no Pakistanibatsman has ever participated in a World Cup with the number 1 position inthe ICC rankings.

Babar Azam is Pakistan’s only batsman and captain who is currentlyparticipating in the World Cup as the number 1 batsman in the ICC rankings.

Furthermore, Babar Azam became the first Pakistani captain to win a WorldCup match in India. Pakistan has played 3 World Cup matches in India sofar, lost 2, and won only 1.

In the second match of the ICC Men’s World Cup, Pakistan lost to theNetherlands by 81 runs.

This was the first occasion in Pakistan’s cricket history when thePakistani team succeeded in winning any match of the World Cup in India.Thus, Babar Azam has the honor of winning Pakistan’s first match in aCricket World Cup held in India.

Before this, Pakistan had never played any match of the Cricket World Cupin India in the 1996 World Cup, where they had to face defeat against Indiain the quarter-finals under the leadership of Aamer Sohail.
