Former President of the International Cricket Council (ICC) and former PCBChairman Ehsan Mani has said that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) should showleadership if Pakistani spectators and journalists are not issued visas forIndia, and the Pakistani cricket team should be called back before thematches against India.
In an interview with Geo News, Ehsan Mani stated that in situations whereIndia has created a hostile environment for Pakistani spectators andjournalists by constructing “no-go areas,” there is no justification forPakistan’s cricket team to participate in the World Cup in India. He urgedthe PCB to make a decision on this matter and expose India’s conspiracy.
He also emphasized that mixing politics with cricket is not appropriate, and India is violating the ICC’s agreements by creating such circumstances.
He pointed out that no tournament can take place without spectators andjournalists, and under the current circumstances, if Pakistan recalls itsteam from India, it will not cause financial harm to the PCB.
Mani mentioned that during his tenure as PCB Chairman, he had raised thisissue three times in ICC meetings, questioning what policy would be inplace for Pakistani spectators and journalists. He stated that SaroGanguly, the President of the Indian Board at that time, had assured himthat there would be no issue with visas for Pakistanis. However, now thatthe tournament has started, Pakistani nationals are being denied entry intoIndia.
