Pakistan seeks diplomatic victory against India at the top UN body

ISLAMABAD:Pakistan link on Saturday saidthe “India-Pakistan Question” would remain on the agenda of United Nationslink SecurityCouncil (UNSC) until Kashmiris were granted their inherent right toself-determination.

In a statement on Twitterlink, the Foreign Officelinksaid the Question remained on the agenda since Indialink has neverimplemented UNSC resolutions on Jammulink Kashmir dispute,which guaranteed a free and impartial plebiscite under auspices of the UnitedNations link (UNlink).

The spokesperson’s statement came after, according to diplomatic sources,India link tried to removeKashmir dispute from link theSecurity Council’s agenda under the agenda item of “India-PakistanQuestion” which was brushed aside as “outlandish.” The agenda was set in accordance with the established rules andprocedures and could only be closed if a dispute was “settled” or there wasa consensus decision of the Security Council to remove it fromlink its agenda. This wasobviously not true in the case of the Jammulink and Kashmir dispute,he said.

The spokesperson said “India-Pakistan Question” was one of the oldest itemson UNSC agenda.

He said India link continuedto deny Kashmiris’ inalienable right to self-determination enshrined in theUNSC resolutions.
