ISLAMABAD – Advisor to Prime Minister on Climate Change, Malik Amin AslamKhan has said that an exclusive strategy is being devised for using urbanand vertical forestry to curb heatwaves.
Chairing a meeting on climate change in Islamabad today, he said thatindicators are showing an increase in overall temperature of two degreesand it has been decided to address this growing concern.
Malik Amin Aslam said that according to environmental studies, the urbanand vertical forestry has a potential to reduce temperatures from 6 to 9degrees.
He said this initiative will not only save city dwellers from scorchingheatwaves but will also help reduce the overall temperature.
The Minister asked the concerned wing of the Ministry of Climate Change toprepare a working paper on the subject which will be further shared withthe provinces for deliberations and consultations.
