SIBI / QUETTA – A bomb explosion near the railway track in Balochistan’s Sibi district narrowly missed the Peshawar-bound Jaffar Express on Thursday. Authorities confirmed that the blast occurred just moments after the train had passed, miraculously avoiding any damage or loss of life.
The explosion occurred approximately two to two-and-a-half feet from the railway line, timing that likely averted a disaster. Emergency teams and railway officials remained on site immediately after the blast, conducting thorough examinations of both the track and surrounding area while collecting evidence for further analysis.
This incident follows a wave of recent attacks targeting the Jaffar Express. Earlier this week, unknown assailants fired upon its pilot engine near Kolpur, prompting railway authorities to halt the train temporarily as a precaution. Just a few months ago, in June, a bomb near Jacobabad derailed several carriages, though it too resulted in no fatalities.
With violence and sabotage on the rise across Balochistan’s railway corridors, this near-miss raises serious concerns over passenger safety and the reliability of key train routes.
