Pakistan Defence Minister Khawaja Asif to Resign?

*ISLAMABAD (Web Desk)* – Federal Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif hasfirmly rejected circulating rumours on social media that he has resignedfrom his position, terming the claims “baseless” and “fabricated.”

The controversy began when X (formerly Twitter) user Zubair Ali Khanalleged in a series of posts that Khawaja Asif had submitted hisresignation following public backlash over the arrest of Sialkot’sAdditional Deputy Commissioner Revenue (ADCR) on corruption charges.According to the user, Asif had purportedly demanded the release of theADCR or the acceptance of his resignation. The posts further claimed thathe withdrew the resignation after meeting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz(PML-N) leader Nawaz Sharif in Murree.

The allegations quickly gained traction online, prompting a swift responsefrom the Defence Minister. Taking to X, Khawaja Asif rubbished the claimsand clarified that no such resignation had been submitted. “With apologies, this gentleman is expressing his wishes — not facts,” Asif wrote in astrongly worded post. He also shared a screenshot of the original claimwith a bold red “FAKE” stamp over it.
