Aviv / New Delhi, 7 August 2025 — Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has reaffirmed Israel’s robust defense partnership with India, affirming that Israeli military equipment supplied to New Delhi performed effectively during Operation Sindoor, India’s May cross-border retaliation against terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan‑occupied Kashmir.
In an interview with PTI, Netanyahu stated that the weapons Israel provided “worked well … battle‑proven” during the operation, emphasizing that Israeli systems are not only developed in labs but refined through real combat use.
He also highlighted the deepening security and economic ties between the two nations, noting ongoing discussions about expanding cooperation in areas like intelligence sharing, counterterrorism, and high-technology. Netanyahu added, half-jokingly, that he would offer strategic advice to Prime Minister Modi “privately” as India grapples with rising tariff tensions with the U.S.
Operation Sindoor was launched in early May following a deadly terror attack in Pahalgam. India executed precision strikes across nine terror-linked sites in Pakistan and PoK, deploying advanced systems like Harop loitering munitions, SkyStriker drones, Heron Mk2 UAVs, Barak‑8 missiles, and the Tavor X95 rifle. These arms, many of Israeli origin or co-developed, played a significant role in India’s upgraded strike capabilities.
The acknowledgment from Netanyahu underscores the maturity of India–Israel defense relations, which have seen decades of collaboration through arms transfers, intelligence exchanges, and joint development projects.
