Mohammad Hafeez may call it the day from international cricket

KARACHI: Pakistan’s experienced all-rounder, Mohammad Hafeez may makehimself unavailable for the national team selection in the future, raisingqueries over his demotion to category B in the new list of centralcontracts.

According to the sources, Hafeez after being downgraded to Category B ofnew Central contracts — released by the PCB, decided not to sign thecontract until he gets the justification for it.

Mohammad Hafeez is expected to meet PCB’s people in the next two days,where he will look to get a response from the board regarding his newcontract category.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) on Monday announced the list of 33centrally contracted players for the 2018-19 season with a 25% to 30%increase in monthly remuneration and match fees for players.

Young Babar Azam, the second-ranked ODI batsman and fifth-ranked T20Ibatsman, replaced the veteran all rounder in the top category for the firsttime.

Mohammad Hafeez who played a key role in Champions Trophy 2017 final, lastrepresented Pakistan in an ODI in January against New Zealand.

Recently, he was a part Pakistan’s ODI squad against Zimbabwe, which theywon by 5-0, but he did not get a chance to feature the playing XI.

Out of favor Hafeez represented Pakistan in 200 ODIs scoring 6,107 at anaverage of 32.83 while appeared in 83 T20i’s for Pakistan adding 1,665 runsto his account.
