*NEW DELHI:* The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) responds overICC allegations against MS Dhoni over Military insignia row.
BCCI has come out in support of former skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni on theissue of the latter sporting ‘Balidaan Badge’ or regimental dagger insigniaof the Indian Para Special Forces on his wicket-keeping gloves, which theInternational Cricket Council (ICC) wants him to remove.
Speaking to ANI, Committee of Administrators (CoA) chief Vinod Rai said,”The ICC rules say any insignia worn by any player shouldn’t have anyreligious, military, or commercial significance. In this case, the insigniahas none of those connotations. So we’re going to tell ICC it need not beremoved.”
Rai, however, added that the Board will take permission from the ICC incase it is required.
”In any case, if they feel, we’ll take permission as we took in case ofcamouflage caps because we believe in conforming to norms of the game. Ifthe ICC has a set of norms, we’ll go with the norms,” Rai added.
According to sources, the Board has communicated to the ICC that it standswith Dhoni in the insignia row.
