ISLAMABAD: Supreme Court (SC) Tuesday dismissed former Pakistan MuslimLeague-Nawaz (PML-N) Member of National Assembly (MNA) Sheikh Waseem Akhtarand Ahmed Latif’s petition against imprisonment.
A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice Asif SaeedKhan Khosa heard the case.
During the course of proceedings, the chief justice said slogans wereraised against judges and judiciary, and the Lahore High Court (LHC) hadalready reduced the sentence from six months to one month.
He said it had become a habit to abuse the judiciary first, and then toapologize afterward.
The petitioner’s counsel took the stance that the plaintiff had apologizedbefore the court and sought unconditional apology.
The apex court dismissed the petition and said there was no need tointerfere in the LHC’s verdict.
