NEW DELHI – Over 200 Delhi University teachers have issued a publicstatement condemning Prime Minister Narendra Modi for making “derogatoryand untrue” remarks about former PM Rajiv Gandhi.
Their statement came after Modi had in a rally on Saturday targetedCongress president Rahul Gandhi on the Rafale issue and said “your fatherwas termed ‘Mr Clean’ by his courtiers, but his life ended as’Bhrashtachari No 1′ (corrupt number 1).”
“Narendra Modi has lowered the dignity of the office of the prime ministerby making derogatory and untrue remarks about the late Rajivji, who madethe supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation,” the statement issuedMonday night and signed by 207 teachers read.
