LAHORE – The electricity shortfall has surpassed 2500 megawatts (MW) andwhich has started power outages of three to seven hours.
According to media reports, the power consumption has reached 16000 MWagainst the production of only 13500 MW.
Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO) is conducting load-shedding on thebasis of the line losses and the electricity theft from its 1775 feeders asit is facing a shortage of 490 MW.
Three-hour power outages are being held from 1241 feeders with 10 percentline losses, five-hour load-shedding from 430 feeders with 30 percent linelosses, six-hour outages from 74 feeders with 40 percent lines losses andseven-hour load-shedding from 20 feeders with 60 percent line losses.
The officials have hoped that the power production would gradually increaseafter the snow on mountains will melt due to high temperature, resulting inwater levels increase in dams.
