SEINAGAR – In occupied Kashmir, the Joint Resistance Leadership has calledfor a complete shutdown, tomorrow (Friday), to condemn India’s fiddlingwith the State Subject Law Article 35-A, ban on Jamaat-e-Islami and arrestof Muhammad Yasin Malik and other Hurriyat leaders under draconian PublicSafety Act.
The JRL in a statement in Srinagar, today (Thursday), also said thatpeaceful protests would be held across the valley tomorrow after Jumaprayers. The statement strongly condemned the arbitrary arrest of seniorresistance leader, Muhammad Yasin Malik under draconian law Public SafetyAct.
The authorities booked Muhammad Yasin Malik, and Chief Spokesman forJamaat-e-Islami, Advocate Zahid Ali, under black law, PSA, today. YasinMalik was shifted to Kot Bhalwal Jail in Jammu and Advocate Zahid Ali toCentral Jail, Srinagar.
Complete shutdown was observed in Maisuma area of Srinagar against thearrest of Yasin Malik and other leaders under PSA.
The Chairman of Hurriyat forum, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq in a statement inSrinagar condemned the slapping of draconian Public Safety Act on MuhammadYasin Malik and other leaders. He said such illegal and undemocratictactics will not stop people and leadership from demanding peacefulresolution of the Kashmir dispute.
The Chairman of Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Jammu and Kashmir, Muhammad AshrafSehrai, in a statement said that the Kashmiris were yearning for the finalsettlement of the Kashmir dispute.
