ISLAMABAD – The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has postponed Nawaz Sharif’splea for an indefinite period for suspension of his sentence in theAl-Azizia reference on Monday.
A two-member bench comprising of IHC Chief Justice Athar Minallah andJustice Amir Farooq heard the plea.
The court observed that it cannot hear the plea until fixing of the mainappeal.
Former premier Nawaz Sharif had filed an appeal in the Islamabad High Court(IHC) against his sentence in the Al-Azizia Steel Mills reference onTuesday.
The appeal filed through his counsel requested the court to nullify theverdict of the accountability court.
The court had returned the plea after raising an objection. Nawaz Sharif’scounsel again filed the petition after removing the objections.
Nawaz Sharif, in the petition, contended that he should be granted bail andreleased until the verdict on the main appeals.
