JERUSALEM: Israeli authorities took nearly 7000 Palestinians as prisoners from the West Bank and Gaza Strip in 2015, the Palestinian Prisoners Club issued report on Friday.
Among these prisoners more than 2,000 children, teenagers and women who had been released.
Number of Palestinian prisoners nearly 7000 including 450 children, 57 women along with more than 600 held in administration detention.
The Report said that the pas year last month witnessed intensive attacks on the Holy Al-Aqsa Mosque, where 3,000 Palestinians including one thousand children were detained. Among the detainees were one hundred women.
Occupation troops had detained many after shooting them. Some of the injured had been taken to prisons instead of hospitals also according to the Palestinian Club.
According to the report, the detention rate this year is 12.7 per cent higher than that of the previous year despite the massive arrest campaign that followed the mysterious disappearance of three Israeli Jewish settlers in mid-2014. (Haaretz)
