Hate crimes against Muslims are on rise in Germany after Paris Attacks

BERLIN: Hate crimes targeting Muslims, their mosques and businesses, have tripled this year and the bulk of the attacks have occurred in recent weeks.

There have been many anti-Muslim attacks in the Germany since the deadly Nov. 13 terrorist attacks in Paris.

There have been many reports of anti-Islamic attacks across the country wherever Muslims live. Girls wearing hijabs have been harassed. Mosques have been defaced and targeted by arsonists. One Muslim woman was menaced by a man with a knife.

“The German Muslims said that “We have no idea why people would do this to us and we don’t want to guess nothing or think about this”,

An analysis of Hate and Extremism found that the number of hate crimes since the Paris attacks is nearly three times greater than the monthly average in the past five years.

The data, which includes incidents and offenses known to law enforcement, are voluntarily submitted by local law enforcement agencies.
