Ashraf Ghani hailed India for delivery of three MI 25 gunship Helicopters

KABUL: The Afghan President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani hailed India for the delivery of three Mi-25 gunship helicopters, calling it a major step towards the stability of Afghanistan as India is having a major contribution in the reconstruction of the country.

Ghani was speaking during the inauguration ceremony of the new parliament building built with the finical support of the Indian government.

He also hailed India for contributing in strengthening democracy in Afghanistan with the construction of the new parliament building, calling India one of the biggest democracies in the world.

In parts of his speech, President Ghani pointed towards the reconstruction of Salma dam in western Herat province of Afghanistan and said around 95 per cent of Herat population will find access to electricity once the dam has been constructed.

He also thanked Modi for pledging 500 scholarships for the children of the fallen members of the Afghan security forces and said every Afghan who has studied in India is acting as an ambassador between the two nations. (Khaama)
