On Friday, Chief of Army Staff Gen Asim Munir emphasized that law enforcement agencies and the government will persistently combat a wide range of illegal activities with unwavering determination to prevent the misappropriation of resources and economic losses.

Gen Munir made these remarks during a meeting of the Sindh Provincial Apex Committee, where Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar was also present. During the meeting, the COAS received briefings on several critical topics, including the updated National Action Plan, operations in the riverine areas of Sindh, the security of foreign nationals engaged in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and other private projects.

These details were provided in a statement by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). Additionally, the participants discussed the repatriation of illegal foreigners and measures related to foreign currency regulation.

The ISPR noted that the status of the Karachi Transformation Plan and initiatives under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in the province were also addressed during the discussion. Gen Munir was quoted by the military's media wing as saying, "Law enforcement agencies and other government departments will maintain their strong enforcement actions against a variety of illegal activities to prevent the loss of resources and economic damage suffered by the country."

He further stressed the importance of collaboration among all relevant departments to maximize the positive impact of these significant initiatives. The participants of the meeting affirmed their unity in purpose, emphasizing that state institutions, government departments, and the people were collectively committed to the progress and prosperity of the province, as stated in the ISPR release.

Similar apex committee meetings were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab last month, during which the COAS had assured the provinces of taking actions to eliminate "significant economic losses."

In August, Gen Munir had also pledged the army's full support to the interim government for the continuity of policies aimed at revitalizing the economy and advancing the country toward progress and prosperity.
